Start
FeloAPI CLI
Install FeloAPI CLI and run npx feloapi-cli setup to configure Codex or Claude Code with your Felo API key.
Configure Felo models and Felo Skills for Codex or Claude Code from your terminal. You can also use Felo search, slides, Web Fetch, and LiveDocs commands.
Start with one command
Install Node.js 22 or newer, then run:
npx feloapi-cli setupAccept npm's installation prompt if it appears. No npm account or global installation is required. Install Codex or Claude Code separately; Codex model configuration requires Codex CLI 0.134.0+.
Get your API key and complete setup
- Open the Felo Console API Keys page and sign in to Felo.
- Create a key and copy the complete key from the creation result. The list only shows a masked key; it cannot recover the full value. If you no longer have it, create a new key.
- Run
npx feloapi-cli setupin your terminal and select Codex or Claude Code. - Choose Models + Skills, Skills only, or Models only. Paste your full key when prompted; the input is hidden.
- If configuring a model, choose a model available to your account. Codex needs a text model supporting Responses; Claude Code needs Anthropic Messages. Appearing in the model list does not guarantee client compatibility.
- Review the configuration preview and confirm to save.
The CLI saves your key locally in ~/.feloapi/state.json. This file is not encrypted; keep it out of Git and shared folders. Do not paste your key into command arguments or public logs. The setup prompt accepts an API key, not a Felo account token or a key ID.
Start your configured agent
After setup, launch the agent you configured:
npx feloapi-cli run codexFor Claude Code:
npx feloapi-cli run claude-codeUse this launcher to pass the saved key and Felo configuration to the agent. Setup creates a separate Felo configuration; it does not switch your default model provider. Start a new agent session to load newly installed Skills.
Install globally or choose capabilities
For frequent use, install the feloapi-cli npm package globally. The installed command is feloapi:
npm install -g feloapi-cli
feloapi setup
feloapi run codexTo install only Felo Skills:
npx feloapi-cli setup --agent codex --skills-onlyTo preview a connection without saving configuration, replace YOUR_MODEL_ID with an available model ID:
npx feloapi-cli models
npx feloapi-cli connect codex --model YOUR_MODEL_ID --dry-run--no-skills configures only a model. Running setup again replaces that agent's Felo connection with your new choices; choosing Skills only removes its previously managed model profile.
Use Felo tools and check your setup
After saving your key, use the existing Felo tools. API requests may consume your account's quota:
npx feloapi-cli search "AI agent trends" --json
npx feloapi-cli web-fetch --url https://example.com --format markdownRun local checks or view command help:
npx feloapi-cli doctor
npx feloapi-cli --helpdoctor checks local configuration without making a paid API call. doctor --online also checks model discovery; doctor --probe --agent codex sends a small model request after confirmation and may incur charges.
| Issue | What to do |
|---|---|
npx is not found or Node is too old | Install Node.js 22+ and reopen your terminal. Check node --version. |
| The key is rejected | Use the complete key from its creation result. Update it with npx feloapi-cli auth login. |
| The agent uses another provider | Start it with npx feloapi-cli run codex or run claude-code; check project settings and explicit overrides. |
| Existing configuration conflicts | Review the reported files. The CLI preserves files it does not manage and files edited outside the CLI. |
| Remove a connection | Run npx feloapi-cli disconnect codex or disconnect claude-code. |
npx feloapi-cli auth logout removes the local key only. To revoke a key, use the Felo Console.
For manual configuration, see the Codex guide and Claude Code guide.
