GROK VS CLAUDE TEST: A few people have asked me if I’ve been using Grok Build with 4.7. The honest truth? Not really. I’ve been trying it out as a worker model for big builds, but with Opus 5.5 being what it is, there’s really zero reason to use Grok 4.7 unless you want to have it as a worker for Opus. It doesn’t hold a candle to Claude Opus 5.5. Last night, I asked my Grok Bots to wire Grok Build into my “explainer” video builder I shared the other day. I wanted to have the option to pick Grok Build or Claude so I can share usage meters for this pipeline. I also wanted to see how Grok would do without Opus to write, design and orchestrate. The outcome? Even my Grok Bot agreed it was pretty brutal compared to Opus. Didn’t even sugarcoat it. This aligns with some of my initial Grok 4.7 vs Opus 5.5 tests. Grok 4.7 is way slower, costs about the same, and the output is usually worse. Right now, using Opus 5.5 as the project manager and having it assign grind work to Grok 4.7 is a good method if you want to split your usage meters, but for now, there’s zero denying that Opus 5.5 is king.
